About Us
A&Y Salvage was established in 1984 and has evolved into a comprehensive scrap metal enterprise over the years. The business was initially operated by a father and son team, Bill & Dean Gentry, who are lifelong residents of Rockingham County. Following Bill’s passing, Dean continued to expand the business until he decided to retire in September 2025, selling the business to Charlie Wright, who intends to further develop the enterprise and continue serving the Rockingham County community. Recycling scrap metal benefits the community in numerous ways, offering a designated site for recycling while also contributing to the local economy. We purchase a wide variety of scrap metals, including cars, trucks, trailers, aluminum cans, copper, brass, batteries, stainless steel, lead, radiators, and more. Additionally, we have an auto parts yard where customers can come, bring their own tools, browse our inventory and pull their own parts.

Our Pull A Part Service
Our Pull-a-part yard is self-service auto salvage yard where customers can browse a large selection of vehicles, locate the parts they need, and remove them from the vehicles themselves. This would be a great way for individuals such as mechanics, to do it yourselfers, to source and save on repairs or projects. No fee for entering the yard. When entering the yard first check in at the office. Bring your own tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.) And if power tools are needed make sure they are battery powered (no electrical outlets are available) and no torches are allowed. Stay mindful of your surroundings with equipment in use nearby daily. Credit cards and cash are both excepted. Towing - We can come get your vehicle

Most of the time, we can offer same or next-day local pick-up. Just give us a call to get started! Prices depending on make/model, completeness, condition. To sell us your vehicle all you need to have is a valid photo ID, sign release forms (we have), titles are only required on vehicles less than 10 years old otherwise not needed.

Roll Off Containers
Roll-off service provided for large quantities of scrap metal. We have 20,30 & 40-yard containers that can be set at request at local locations free of charge. This service is available whether you are a local company or an individual doing a large clean-up. Call us about your plans and we will do our best to meet your needs. Once it is set on your site, just load it up, then call us back for pick-up, we weigh it, then pay you for your metal.
